Behind The Sleep Wire
I started The Sleep Wire because I was exhausted, and the advice I kept finding was either overwhelming, vague, or written for someone with a medical degree. I wanted a place that treated sleep seriously, communicated it clearly, and provided solutions that actually helped.
I have spent years as a poor sleeper. The kind who lies awake with a perfectly quiet room and a perfectly loud mind. I tried the trackers, the supplements, the breathing techniques, the routines. Some worked. Many didn’t. But the process of finding out what did and why turned into something I couldn’t stop researching.
The Sleep Wire is built on that research. Every article, every review, and every sleep disorder guide is written after going deep into the evidence, peer-reviewed studies, clinical guidelines, and the kind of detail that doesn’t make it into most sleep content. We care deeply about how information is communicated, not just what is said. Sleep science is complex. Making it genuinely readable is the work.
The Sleep Wire is being built with a clear ambition: to become the most trustworthy, useful sleep resource for women navigating the real challenges of modern rest.

Joanne Steyn
Editor, The Sleep Wire
Hello, I’m Joanne, Editor of The Sleep Wire and a lifelong sleep struggler. Quieting my mind at night has never come easily, and I’ve spent years trying everything from high-tech trackers to herbal teas in search of better rest. Some things helped, others didn’t, but one thing became clear: the world of sleep advice is noisy, confusing, and often overwhelming.
I started The Sleep Wire to cut through the noise and share clear, trustworthy, science-backed guidance, covering everything from everyday sleep habits to the best products that help you sleep better.
In my own life, improving my sleep transformed everything: my energy, my mood, and my ability to stay focused and perform at my best.
With an academic background in creative writing and a passion for research, I’ve developed the skills to sift through the science and highlight what matters so you don’t have to. When I’m not deep in sleep science or testing new products, you’ll find me outside, exploring new running tracks or recharging with a good book.
And as for how I sleep? I’m a dedicated side sleeper!
Warmly,
Joanne
